Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Q. What was that backwards message that you found in Strypers Sing Along Song?
A. In 1986 I had heard several church seminars about backwards masking. These seminars always focused on secular music and were geared towards proving "Rock" music was of the devil. One seminar that caught my attention was focused on the aspect that - The spiritual father that you serve will be influenced in the music created. Thus the seeds of Satan will take root in music that he has influenced, but at the same time (if this theory is correct) the seeds of the Holy Spirit should be reflected in the music inspired by God.
These messages also have two meanings; one obvious meaning as it is played in the forward motion, but also a message when played backwards. It also has much to do with Rhythm and Melody because if you find one of these hidden backwards messages and try to duplicate the process merely just by speaking the forward lyrics and then play it backwards you get nothing but garble. So Melody, Harmony, and Rhythm play a huge role.
Now we are told in the Bible that before his fall, Satan was the Choir director of Heaven. We are told that he actually had pipes (like a pipe organ) built into his body. When Satan fell, he was cast out of heaven and took a third of the angels in heaven (that had pledged allegiance to him) with him. We are told in the Bible that Satan is the father of this world. Satan's obvious influence in today's pop culture is very evident. But what about God, the Creator Himself. The One who created the little god the devil. Do we find His influence? I can assuredly answer with a big fat YES!!
My goal was to find in Christian music, hidden messages, and what I found stunned me. Usually when I am searching for hidden messages in songs I find little blurbs, a sentence, or a few words here and there. But nothing prepared me for what I was about to hear.
I sat up one night in my apartment disecting Stryper albums
and I would record a song on my 4 track recorder and then flip the tape over and listen to
the song backwards searching for anything that could be perceived as an intelligible word
or sentence. As I started with Strypers Sing Along Song I came to the line going forwards
that says;
"With the right to sing, song after song, this songs for you to
sing sing sing sing along..."
When I turned the tape over I heard not just a word or blurb, but I heard a whole verse
that says;
"God is soon to rule don't trust Satan. No, Satan lost. He is
so scared of you."
This is a verse of a song written by a man who serves and worships the true and living God, when played forward has an obvious meaning, but when played backwards has a message to the Church from the Holy Spirit himself. This message was unintended by Stryper, the producer, engineers, or any other human hand. Does God influence Christian music? YES! Does it matter if this was a "Heavy Metal" song or a Hymn sung by a choir? NO! It is NOT the style of music that matters. It is the spiritual father whom you serve. It is the attitude of the heart of the believer being right before God through accepting His Son Jesus Christ.
The message in this song agrees with the Word of God - Is God soon to rule? Absolutely! We are told throughout the Bible that Christ will return for His Church and to set up his kingdom. We are told that "Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Satan lost the day that Christ hung on the cross and shed His blood for all mankind. He died and rose again from the dead just as He said He would. Is Satan scared of the us, the church? Yes he is. The Holy Spirit dwells in the lives of the believers. He is scared of the power of God that lives in the body of believers - The Church.
